To remove an object from a photo, upload the image to Remove Photo Bg, brush over the thing you do not want, and let the AI fill the area with background that matches its surroundings. The result is a cleaner photo that looks as if the object was never there.
Great shots are often spoiled by a small detail: a trash can by the door, a cable across the desk, a stray coffee cup in a product photo. A magic eraser fixes that in seconds, without cloning pixels by hand.
How the AI object remover works
The object remover uses a technique called inpainting. You mark the area to remove with a brush, and the AI studies the pixels around it, such as textures, edges, lines and colors, then generates new content to fill the gap. Patterns like grass, sand, walls, sky or flooring are continued across the erased area so the repair blends in.

How to remove an object from a photo in 4 steps
- Upload your photo. Open the object remover and upload a JPG, PNG or WEBP image up to 16 MB.
- Brush over the object. Paint over everything you want gone, including its shadow or reflection. Adjust the brush size so you cover the object fully with a small margin.
- Let the AI fill the area. The marked area is replaced with background generated from the surrounding pixels.
- Review and download. Zoom in to check the result. If a trace remains, brush over it again, then download your cleaned photo.
What you can remove
- Everyday clutter - cups, bags, chargers, cables and remote controls.
- Outdoor distractions - trash cans, signs, cones, parked bikes and street furniture.
- Blemishes on surfaces - stains on a tablecloth, scuffs on a wall, dust spots on a product.
- Unwanted people - see our dedicated page to remove a person from a photo.
- Text and marks - captions, stickers and stamps, covered on our remove text from image page.
Tips for the most natural results
Include shadows and reflections
An object usually leaves a shadow on the ground or a reflection on glossy surfaces. If you only erase the object, the shadow stays behind and gives the edit away. Brush over both.
Paint slightly beyond the edges
Covering a few extra pixels around the object prevents a faint outline from remaining. The AI needs the whole object inside the marked area.
Work in passes for large objects
For big objects, remove part of it, check the result, then continue. Smaller, focused passes often give the AI better context to work with.
Simple backgrounds work best
Objects in front of sky, grass, sand, water, plain walls or floors are the easiest to remove convincingly. Objects that cover complex structures, such as part of a face or detailed architecture, are harder, because the AI has to invent what was hidden.
Know when to crop instead
If the object sits at the very edge of the frame, cropping may be faster and cleaner than erasing. Save the eraser for objects in the middle of the scene, where cropping would cut away the part of the photo you care about.
Upscale after editing
If you plan to print or crop the cleaned photo, enlarge it afterward with the image upscaler for more detail.

Why use Remove Photo Bg to remove objects
Traditional clone-stamp editing in desktop software takes practice and time, especially across textured areas. The AI eraser handles the fill for you: just brush and download. It works in any modern browser on desktop and mobile, is free to use, and processes images on our own servers rather than sending them to third-party AI services.
